Lagos Life is a social game with hundreds of thousands of real people in it, and some of them are there for your money, both game naira and real naira. Most traps are the same ones you would see on WhatsApp or Instagram, just wearing an agbada. Here is what to watch for.
Scams inside the game
"Send small, I go send big." The most common one. Someone in chat asks you to send ₦20,000 and promises ₦100,000 back, or "a deal for 10M". One creator recorded exactly this in his first week. Nobody in Lagos Life needs your ₦20k to unlock their millions. Block and move on.
Fake investment clubs. Players advertise "investment funds" or "cooperatives" where you send game money and get returns. Some may be honest role-play, but the game cannot enforce any promise between players. Only the official Invest app, the bank and the Lagos Property Fund pay you by the rules.
Romance for money. Players flirt, then ask for transfers or big gifts. Food gifts and small transfers between friends are part of the fun; repeated requests from someone you met an hour ago are not.
Hustle jobs that never pay. If you take a job on the Hustle board and the poster cancels after you've started, the game has a court case type for unpaid Hustle work. Keep the chat history.
Scams outside the game
Coin sellers. Many YouTube and TikTok creators end their videos with "DM me for cheap coins". Buying game money with real money outside the official top-up is against the rules, and if the seller vanishes with your bank transfer you have no recourse. There have also been reports of rolled-back money and EFCC files on accounts that received large unexplained transfers.
Fake APKs and "mod" downloads. Lagos Life is a browser game at lagoslife.app. There is no APK, no Play Store app and no money mod. Anything you install claiming to be one is at best useless and at worst malware.
Copycat and fan sites. Several sites use "Lagos Life" in their name, and some fans have built their own Lagos-themed games with AI tools. Only lagoslife.app is the official game, and only it should ever see your password. This wiki included: we will never ask you to log in.
"I can withdraw your game money." You cannot cash out Lagos Life naira. Anyone offering to convert it to real money is lying.
Keep your account safe
- Add a recovery email in settings. Without one, a forgotten password is hard to recover.
- Use a password you do not use anywhere else.
- Never share your password "so someone can decorate for you". Decorators get hired through the in-game job system and work with your permission.
- Log out on shared or café computers.
Harassment and uncomfortable chats
Chat is open, and some players are crude. You decide who comes into your home: visitors need you to let them in, and even inside they cannot sit until you invite them. Leave conversations, block people who keep pushing, and report abuse to the game team. Lagos Life is strictly for adults 18+, so report anyone who says they are younger.
A quick rule of thumb
If an offer involves real money, a password, an APK or "send first", the answer is no.
