Lagos Life has player-run government. Elections, a governor, a cabinet and policies that change prices for everyone. During launch week one creator found Lagos had "no governor this week", and soon after another showed a sitting governor, "Madam Franka", with a full cabinet.
Elections
- Open the Lagos State Government app and run. It costs β¦50,000 to stand.
- Voters go to Polling Unit 001 on Lagos Island to get accredited and cast their vote. You can show off your inked thumb, watch the live count and argue about the results.
- The winner takes office for the term.
The cabinet
A governor appoints commissioners to four portfolios: Finance, Works, Health and Transport. Beyond the state level there are seats in the Senate and the Presidency.
| Office | Allowance |
|---|---|
| Governor | β¦25,000 |
| Commissioner | β¦10,000 |
| Senator | β¦15,000 |
| President | β¦25,000 |
Policies
The governor can switch on policies like these, which apply across the city:
| Policy | Effect |
|---|---|
| π Transport subsidy | Danfo and keke fares are half price |
| πΌ Minimum wage raise | Everyone earns 15% more per shift |
| π Owambe season | Fun at places around Lagos is 30% stronger |
| π Food subsidy | Groceries and food are 30% cheaper |
| π‘ Steady light | NEPA cuts are shorter and rarer |
A transport subsidy halves danfo and keke fares; a minimum wage raise adds 15% to every shift; owambe season changes the party economy. They are the main way one player's choices reach every other player's wallet.
Why bother?
Allowances are modest next to a good business, but politics is about status and influence: your name on the government app, a title that sticks, and the power to make life cheaper (or more expensive) for every player in the city.
