CcHub Guide: Coding, Freelance Gigs, Hackathons and the Startup Pitch

CcHub in Yaba is the most important building in Lagos Life for anyone who wants to get rich without a rich daddy. It is where the coding grind happens, where freelancers pick up work, and where a single good pitch can drop a million naira into your account. It is also where people get arrested for hacking ATMs.

It is open 8am to 11pm. Here is everything inside.

The four stations

The coding ladder

Coding is the skill CcHub revolves around. These are the ways to train it in the game, best first:

• Hack on Side Project is free, takes two hours and trains at ×1.6. It is the bread and butter.
• Weekend Hackathon trains at ×2.0 but needs Coding 3 and takes four hours. You pick a track (fintech, agritech and so on) and a strong team can win prize money.
• Practice Coding at home on a laptop (×1.2) is your night option when CcHub is closed.
• Attend Tech Meetup trains less coding (×0.8) but fills Social at the same time.

The Tech Bro or Sis trait multiplies all of this by 1.6, and a LAPO Baby adds another 25%.

Getting paid at CcHub

Freelance Gig unlocks at Coding 2 and pays more with every level. The CcHub version takes 120 minutes; the laptop version at home takes 180 minutes but pays more per job:

The real prize is Pitch Your Startup on the event stage. It needs Coding 5 and Charisma 3. You raise Charisma right here with Gist with Founders (×0.6), or faster at home with a mirror (Practice Speech, ×1.3) or at Freedom Park's Spoken Word open mic (×1.3).

Pitches take an hour, drain a little Fun, and the payout depends on how the investor feels. A good run of pitches is the fastest legitimate jump from "broke" to "comfortable" in the game. In one challenge video a player rebuilt from ₦0 to over ₦1.1M with ordinary gigs plus a single ₦1M pitch.

A three-day CcHub route

1. Day 1: Buy a laptop. Alternate Hack on Side Project at CcHub with Practice Coding at home. Eat coffee and puff-puff to keep Energy up.
2. Day 2: At Coding 2, start Freelance Gigs between side projects. At Coding 3, join the Weekend Hackathon.
3. Day 3: Practise Speech at home until Charisma 3. Once Coding hits 5, pitch whenever the stage is free.

If your career is Tech or Product Management, every coding session also pushes your promotions. Product Management starts at ₦20,000 a shift once Coding is 3.

The ATM at the hot desk

Hack an ATM sits on the same desks and unlocks at Coding 6. It is tempting:

• Payout: ₦1,000,000 – ₦5,000,000
• Chance of being caught: 70%
• Fine if caught: ₦20,000,000, or time in the cell
• Charge: bank fraud, which stays on your police record

Run the expected value: 30% × ₦3M average = ₦900,000 gained; 70% × ₦20M = ₦14M lost. Even if you choose the cell instead of the fine, the record makes an EFCC investigation more likely later. During launch week CcHub was full of people trying it, and the police station was fuller. Read staying out of jail if you insist.
